New York City, the Big Apple

Many people are drawn to the big apple for many different reasons. Whether it is to explore the city or to pursue your career, you should take in everything you can in your trip or downtime while waiting for the big career.

With a metropolitan area of 6,720 square miles there is no shortage of things to do and see. New York City is a birthplace of many cultural movements, including the Harlem Renaissance in visual art and literature, New York School in painting, punk, salsa, hip-hop, and disco in music. The big apple is the home of Broadway Theater.

Aside from the nickname Big Apple, other nicknames include The City that Never Sleeps and Gotham. New York City is composed of five boroughs. By population these boroughs are Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, The Bronx and Staten Island.

The Big Apple contains many, many destinations for tourists of all ages from the Statue of Liberty to luxury shopping along Sax and Fifth Avenue. A few other attractions including Times Square, Rockefeller Center, New York Botanic gardens, online games, Central Park and the Empire State building to name a few. New York City has the appeal to satisfy everyone in the family.
